WIW: Grey, Lilac, Black

Woke to a massive dump of snow snarling up the roads. Such a stressful morning trying to get kids dropped off at school and grandma's and get the driveway shovelled out. I need a weekend to recover from the long weekend, as all I seemed to do was take care of my husband, who has pneumonia, and two sick kids. Blech!

I decided to wear my lilac blazer today, and I knew there was a recent ensemble, so that was perfect. I switched things up by reversing the blazer and shirt colours, but I think it works?

Blazer, Jeans, T: Gap
Belt: H&M
Boots: Frye Engineer 8R

You look beautiful in your lilac blazer. I like your reverse take on Angie's formula. So sorry that your family has been ill and hope they recover soon. Hugs to you as the loving caretaker. Hope you can grab a little rest.

Sorry that the family is sick. Hang in there.

  • Mochi replied 10 years ago

The lilac (so spring-like---will we ever get there?) is so unexpected next to the grays and androgynous mood of the rest of the outfit. As usual, I like a lot!

  • carter replied 10 years ago

Very pretty! Super way to add a little Spring when Winter won't stop.

  • Thistle replied 10 years ago

Sorry everyone is so sick!  That makes it so hard, especially with this relentless snow.

You look terrific, and a fab interpretation of Angie's outfit post.

  • Aquamarine replied 10 years ago

Sounds like a stressful time :-( I hope the blazer perks you up...it's a lovely color.

Sorry your family is sick. You look fab, though!

I like the contrast of the black and lilac.  I hope your family feels better soon.  I personally think sick husbands are almost worse than sick kids.

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

I love this color on you!!!! I love the juxtaposition of soft and hard elements. Lilac soft, boots & black hard. The jeans pull everything together with a subtle texture. You look like you because of the structured classic lines of the jacket -- it's so unexpected in a good way.

  • Dee replied 10 years ago

Switching it up definitely works! You always wear the darker tones so well, but this lilac really pops and looks great on you. And I hope everyone feels better soon!

  • Diana replied 10 years ago

The lilac is great on you. I really like it on the monochrome base.  Sorry to hear that everyone is sick though. =(

  • Debra replied 10 years ago

YLF...you would never know from the smile in the photo that you had such a hectic morning. I love the light jacket with the black underneath :)

  • JAileen replied 10 years ago

This looks great - appropriate for winter, with a nod to spring!

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

That lilac shade is perfect for spring.  If one keeps wearing spring colors, maybe it will arrive faster? :)

  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago

The lilac is unexpected and pretty!
I think it is a jacket that will go with most too.

  • catgirl replied 10 years ago

Very pretty!  Will mesh well with your colors too.

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

I love the lilac blazer, it's such a nice, springy color. Hopefully DH feels better soon.

  • April replied 10 years ago

Ugh, the snow makes everything so much harder.  (And I love snow -- I'm just weary of this winter.)  Did it make you feel better to know that you looked really good today?  I hope so.

  • replied 10 years ago

Thanks everyone! The silly man went to work today but came home grey so I have told him he really should stay home tomorrow and rest while the kids are at school/daycare.

I am about to curl up with some tea and a book and then early to bed.

  • karymk replied 10 years ago

Its really good to see you in that nice lilac color up top. Love it.

  • Debora replied 10 years ago

You look lovely and springlike. It lifts my mood just looking at you. :) I hope your poor hubby and kids are feeling better soon. Hugs!

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

So glad you're relaxing this evening!  Wishing for quick healing for DH and kiddos, too!

I echo DayVies -- this look is stunning on you, and you make the lilac blazer work so beautifully for your style.  And it hints at spring!

  • AJ replied 10 years ago

Oooohhhh, lilac blazer is so FAB with this outfit! The faded jeans add that UWP edge.

Hope hubs feels better soon. Mine was down for the count yesterday too.

  • adorkable replied 10 years ago

love it! such a good color!

  • Ornella replied 10 years ago

I love this on you. And I bet it will look equally great with white top too. You surely need something this cheerful and gentle at the same time right now.

Take care these days as you're in the driving seat (literally and metaphorically speaking), work, kids, home, hubby - the whole package. I wish your hubby speedy recovery. I had a horrible chest infection ("only")  4 or 5 years ago which was hard to shake off, so I can try to imagine it's not easy (on top of men quite often not being the most reasonable patients :-) )

  • kellygirl replied 10 years ago

Huge thumbs up! I need to try that blazer with my grey cords! Love this!

  • kkards replied 10 years ago
