WIW: Meh

Trying to get back in the saddle as it were, I have missed all of you.

This is perfectly ok, but nothing special, I think. I tried it with lighter footwear, but my python Pettys didn't feel comfortable, and I didn't want to wear my Hi-nesses either. I also tried on about 5 shirts and then just ran out of time. I think a white-out look would be best.

Maybe I am going through a style shift, or perhaps my dissatisfaction is more a reflection of the general malaise I have been experiencing, and not the outfit. I do like these jeans a lot but I don't know how to style them, and instead of them languishing, I am going to wear them and hopefully not get too dirty today.

Shirt: Old Navy
Jeans: BR
Belt: Gap
Boots: Dr Martens Pascal

All comments welcome, thanks for looking.

You look great Ceit and it's so good to see you. How is everything? I like the outfit and see nothing I would change:). Maybe it was just one of those mornings?

  • Neel replied 9 years ago

Hey there Ceit! :). So glad to see you posting! I am sorry you are feeling down ... But the outfit is perfect! I love the white jeans with the blue shirt and black accessories. Boo on the Python Petys :( but I think it would have been brilliant with the white pants!

I think it's a great look, just different.

Sorry to hear about the malaise. I hear you about frustration in little things like getting dressed I the morning. Went through this last year, resulting in a long time away from you fabbers.

  • bj1111 replied 9 years ago

Ok, I went through your recent wiws. The bottoms seem slouchier than previous ...maybe that is contributing to the meh? You eye hasn't adjusted?

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

I am sorry you're feeling low -- but you are looking great! I love this soft blue-grey on you together with the white specs and jeans. It's a beautiful cool summer look on you.

Did you try your Zara loafers with this?

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

It's a great look, I love the white jeans (especially with your white specs) and blue shirt. The semi tuck works well. I agree with Suz, loafers would look good here. Feel better, girlfriend!

I've missed you, Ceit. Sorry you had to try on so many things to find today's outfit -- for me, that's a tough way to begin the day. Hope it got better.

Hi Ceit, I think you look fab today! I love the soft blue with white. I'm sorry to hear that you are having a stressful time, and I hope it is over or anytime soon.

  • Emily replied 9 years ago

Hey stranger!  I'm glad to see you back.
I think you look good!  The colours are fresh and crisp.  The jeans and top work well together and the fits are all good.  It looks a little preppier than I generally expect from you, but your cool hair and white specs give it some edge.
"I also tried on about 5 shirts and then just ran out of time."  Been there...

Hey Ceit - we missed you!  I think you did great with your outfit. I do admit I have trouble with the BR cream jeans myself and I can't explain it. I think I need to force myself to wear them more often to get over it. I want to try them with my white/tan slip ons but haven't yet as it's still too hot here.

Maybe it's the oncoming fall season making you feel a slight style shift? (and mood shift?) Hope you are feeling better soon!

    Hi Ceit!
Why are these casual, average day outifts sometimes the hardest to put together?  I sometimes feel that they are tough because I want to look polished and stylish but I don't want to look like I'm trying too hard.
This outfit is seasonless and looks effortless, and what I actually noticed about you in the pic is your specs - the jeans bookend them somehow.
It's interesting that you are feeling like you might be on the verge of a style shift...we will be watching!

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

Hi! Sorry to hear about your frustration - I totally get it! The first thing I noticed, like others, was how your white specs and jeans bookend so well. Makes it all the more crisp. We all have days like that - but you do look great - simple but very nice.

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

    Missed you.

You look great. Blue & white is iconic. Love the bookended white. xo

When you have such tried and true formulas, you can get further than "meh!"  You have good, modern fits here, and have taken the time to belt, semi tuck and push up sleeves.  These are your new normal, so you forget how most of us dress in simple pants and a chambray shirt.

Love the long hair with the bang -- kind of late 60's.

Good to see you again, Ceit!  Hope a new season brings good things to you!

This is almost exactly my summer uniform.  I love it on you as much as I love it on me.  And I've missed you.  Welcome back, and I hope your malaise resolves well and quickly (both in style and in general).

  • Sara L. replied 9 years ago

I think the blue and white looks good.  It's good to start wearing the white jeans whether they get dirty or not.  You can always wash and bleach them.

Nice to see you again Ceit - you've been missed :)

I like the dark boots with the white and light blue - they are bookended by your hair.

  • ironkurtin replied 9 years ago

As always your clothing fits to a t!  I am envious how naturally your clothing always looks like it was tailored to you.

Going to second that that jeans might be more fun for you sized up or sized down, but white jeans can be tricky to photo so take with sodium.

  • cheryle (Dianthus) replied 9 years ago

Why the malaise Ceit?  Is it because classes aren't in session now or because the children are returning to school soon?

I think the outfit looks just fine as is but know what it is like to change an item out and then end up back at the beginning and still not feeling quite right.

Perhaps you need a little treat for yourself.  Shannon posted a link to a great Danier sale.  :)

  • E replied 9 years ago

    Ceit! Missed you. :)

I'm sorry you're going through a tricky time: I hope it sorts itself out soon.

I happen to love blue & white together in the summer, so I really like your final look! It looks summery but still able to get down to business.

  • Gracie replied 9 years ago

I think this is a classic combination, I love white and light chambray in the summer and might just copy your outfit soon. I do agree that perhaps lighter footwear would be better with this outfit, but bookending your specs and jeans makes the look fab.

  • shedev replied 9 years ago

Missed you. You look classic and comfortable. Hope you are feeling better soon.

  • LACeleste replied 9 years ago

Sorry you are feeling meh. The slump is not visible from your outfit. I love the blue and white and your hair is very pretty! Missed your posts!

  • K. Period. replied 9 years ago

You look beautiful!  I like the outfit, but looking at it, I immediately thought, "She looks more like me than her!"  So...a fabulous outfit, but not a "you" outfit, if that makes sense.  This seems more classic than you typically wear.  I feel like it is missing a tougher, more interesting belt or something going on with a bracelet or watch or maybe something really metallic or holographic shiny.

  • kellygirl replied 9 years ago

Great to see you. I love how the pants bookend your frames. SO pretty. This is a softer look for you--less UWP. I really like it though. Blue suits you!

    YLF :)

  • rachylou replied 9 years ago

I suffer from style dissipation on a regular basis. Things just don't come into focus for me. It's an interesting phenomenon.

  • catgirl replied 9 years ago

You look wonderful! Sometimes I just get tired of being ME, right down to my clothes. Regardless, you look fantastic and up to par.

  • replied 9 years ago

Thank you everyone. I think part of the crux is that I feel tired of being me (thank you for summing that up so astutely, Una).

Your suggestions, insight, empathy and comments are much appreciated. Onward and upward.

  • unfrumped replied 9 years ago

You look fab in this and all renditions of jeans. I only wish I could look so effortless in a tucked in shirt, but I don't achieve the same kind of lines.
    Love the blue and white.

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

I think the meh is internal. This is a great outfit on you Ceit and good to see you posting!

  • Janet replied 9 years ago

Nice to see you again! Well, you don't look meh, but I was wondering -- do you have a metallic belt? A belt with a bit more shine or presence might be just the thing to kick the look up a notch. You look great either way.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

Welcome back, Ceit! I like your outfit, and like others, I noticed how great you look in white jeans with your white specs. Such an immediately pulled-together look--I think you can hardly go wrong, whatever top you choose to add.

Why do you find the pants hard to style? Is it the light color? I've often had that trouble myself; I'm more comfortable in darker pants, and I feel off balance with lighter colored bottoms. I think your solution of a low-contrast shirt is a good way to ease into lighter colored pants; it has worked for me, anyway.
