WIW: Ride the lightning

This outfit makes me much happier than yesterday. It was 10C when I left the house this morning, and the geese have started honking and flying over in the evening, so Fall is coming (woohoo!).

This sweater was a fun thing I picked up, it has a high-low hem (not that you can see from the picture), and has embroidered lightning bolts all over it. I pulled out my skinny coated cropped jeans, and my trusty Engineer boots and there you have it. This feels much more like me.

My daughter insisted I wear my hair like Elsa from Frozen today. I don't have that much hair but I was happy to oblige her.

Sweater: Zara
Tee, Jeans: Gap
Boots: Frye Engineer 8R

Glad you are happier with this. You look terrific (but did yesterday too). What is about Frozen that is so captivating to girls (totally rhetorical question)?

Gosh Ceit - I love this look and adore that sweater on you!! Although I am more "Percy Jackson and The Lightening Thief" myself!! Great look!

You look fab and oh so you. The coated jeans with sweater is a terrific combo, and the lightening bolts are fun and you.

DD came home after her first few days at preschool saying she was dressing up like the "blue princess." Took a bit of prying to figure out she meant Elsa. Funny thing is, she has never seen the movie. We weren't sure it wouldn't scare her or that she would even get it. Ah, the joys of school and other kids!

I really like this Ceit, and that this one amazing and fun sweater.  I liked yesterday's outfit too, but I can see how this can feel like more "you".

I love the way your bangs show up with your hair like that!  And you look fabulous as always.  I have missed the inspiration of seeing your outfits.

What a fun sweater! I hope you are not forecasting lightning, though! DD has just gone on a wilderness camping trip to Algonquin...

You look great in this outfit. I loved yesterday's but equally love today's.

Great look! Very much your signature style. Cool sweater.

Frozen doesn't just captivate little girls. My Master 11 loved it and plays, and signs along, with the songs from the movie quite often;)

That's a cool sweater! So glad you are feeling better :). I can't believe fall is already here. Time flies isn't it?!

Great outfit!  I'm glad you're feeling more like you.  I like that the outfit is simple but the pieces are interesting - the lightning bolt sweater is really cool.
I am not loving this fall-like weather!  Though I am excited about fall outfits...

This is definitely YOU Ceit - the sweater is fab (love the lightening bolts) and pairs perfectly with your stompy Fryes.

Great sweater, although it's still very warm here and I'm sweating just looking at you :)  My boys both love that movie too.  My older one sings the "Do you want to a build a snowman" song all the time.

A great little Fall outfit. I love you in shades of white, Kate. Your plait looks fun too.

I am gloating as I type in sunny hot weather. VERY unusual for Seattle. I am milking it. xo

"Let it go.....Let it go...... I'm not holding back anymore....."  Ah yes, Frozen is everywhere.  Didn't hurt that it premiered in an insanely cold winter!

Love the bit of whimsy in the print --- you do this type of print so well.  The marvelous clompy boots are a great RATE foundation for the sweater.

I love this look on you -- with the lightning bolts and the braid and the boots, you look ready for a great adventure.

Oh what a neat outfit! You look much happier today. I'm so jealous you can wear sweaters & skinnies in August too, lol.

My niece is also obsessed with Frozen: in fact, last week we went to the yarn store so she could pick out yarn so I can knit her a pair of Elsa-inspired mitts (2 shades of blue w snowflake patterns). I still haven't seen it though.

  • kellygirl replied 9 years ago

Perfection! Do you think that button downs are too strict for your style? I kind of had a revelation about those recently and ended up getting rid of a bunch that I never wanted to wear. I'm much happier in knits. You look terrific in this. Love that the stompy boots are coming out :)

Also milking the hot weather here, like Angie. So I'm amused at your enthusiasm for fall weather. But don't you look terrific! Love that sweater, and your braid goes nicely with the cream sweater, giving a light look around your face. You practically glow (meant as a compliment)!

  • Diana replied 9 years ago

Great sweater and great look overall.  I'm glad you are feeling more like you today.

As for Frozen, well, just be glad it isn't The Little Mermaid (which was the Disney movie en vogue when I was in grade school).  Try explaining to your kid the she can't wear a purple shell bikini to school!

I really like this Ceit. I'm so ready to dress for fall.

  • replied 9 years ago

I love you in cream, such a great color on you. The boots and dark jeans are nice way to keep the look little edgy.

PS. Your Elsa braid is also lovely. Lots of Anna and Elsa braids at our house too!

Ceit -- welcome back.  You look fabulous.

  • Gracie replied 9 years ago

Gah! I want to steal your whole outfit – so cool!

  • catgirl replied 9 years ago

Yay lightning bolts! I love a subtle comic book/weather/superhero theme. :)

  • Vicki replied 9 years ago

So cool for cool weather and I love the lightning bolts and, even more, that you wore your hair that way, according to your wee hairstylist.  It looks great!  :)

  • rachylou replied 9 years ago

This is super cute. I think the braid is a key part of it, I might mention.

  • Lyn D. replied 9 years ago

    Love this!

  • Jeanie replied 9 years ago

There you go...you make a lovely princess Elsa!

  • Marley replied 9 years ago

Love your hair!  And  that lightening bolt sweater is so fun!  Great mix of "whimsy" with "tough!"

  • Mary Beth (formerly LBD) replied 9 years ago

Oh Ceit, I love your outfit!   The lightning bolts brought a big grin to my face.   Does anyone remember the Lightning Bolt brand that was trendy in the early 1980's?   It was surfer-inspired, like Ocean Pacific, and all the cool girls had clothing with little lightning bolts embroidered or printed on them.... and the rest of us wanted desperately to be just like them.

Ceit, you are the cool girl :)

  • fathenry replied 9 years ago

Good outfit, and you're the cool mom too :)
