WIW: Skirt Day 3

My challenge got derailed last week due to myriad factors, but I have started it up again. If this skirt was about 2-3" longer I would be supremely happy, but I can never seem to purge it. I love the kilt-like styling so much, and that is why I have owned this baby since 1999. Also trying it with clunkier boots.

Sweater: Zara
Skirt: Sears
Boots: Frye Engineer 8R

Yay, skirt week continues. I derive so much inspiration from you Ceit. Sorry about the derailment. Ok miss lady you have and can still fit a skirt from 1999 awesome. This is why I like your style you can take a piece and have just the right balance in my eyes. Does your career influence much of what you wear?

Gorgeous skirt on you Ceit. No wonder you kept it this long :)

I was waiting for Day3. Another fab skirt outfit!

I can see why you like that skirt, it's very "you".  And I think the length is fine!  Good to see you back on track, it's fun seeing you in skirts!

    Great skirt!

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

From 1999! That is amazing. Great sweater too!

  • amiable replied 9 years ago

I like it on you too - glad it's survived so long!

  • Diana replied 9 years ago

Nice! I would totally wear this, 90s skirt and all.

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

Totally suits you! Hey, it still fits! Why not!!??

  • rae replied 9 years ago

I love it! I don't think you need it longer for proportions, especially with chunky shoes. How did you feel in it?

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

Adorable. You nailed Tough Girly Knight.

    Thanks everyone!

Rae, I feel fine in it I guess. It feels a bit short when sitting, but I am holed up in a lab with stacks of boxes around me, so no one will see if I sprawl out in my chair a little (I always forget to sit cross-legged with a skirt). It is a really light soft denim so it is comfortable.

Love this on you Kate - you make your wardrobe work so well!!

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

It's brilliant on you, Kate. You were right to hang onto it -- it's a style signature.

Ok. I'm gonna be the upstream swimmer: Don't like the skirt. I don't see kilt, I see Sailor Moon. Also, I find it bulky on you.

Maybe with your upcoming sandal/cage boots and a cut-off tee...

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

    I think this totally works.

  • shedev replied 9 years ago

I think you could style this with the sneaker trend if you wanted. Can't blame you for holding on to that skirt.

  • MsLuna replied 9 years ago

Everything about this outfit is awesome. True RATE yet still very feminine! I like how you wore those boots with the kilt-like skirt! Balances out the wide hem!

  • Travelgal Nicole replied 9 years ago

    Fab skirt. It really works.

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

I think the length of the skirt is perfect for wearing with chunky boots. It looks great just as it is!

  • Sara L. replied 9 years ago

Fun skirt!  I think the length is fine and I like the boxy top and clunky boots.

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Ceit, the style of skirt on it's own does read dated to me BUT you have totally brought this into very modern and current territory.  YOu look fab.  Another 5 years and it will be 'vintage'.

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

You have made it your own with the boots and, like Shedev, I think sneakers would also work with it.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

Another great skirt outfit! Creative way to make 1999 look very now. Wish I could wear something I owned in 1999, or then again, maybe not. ;)
