WIW: You can't take the sky from me...

(Firefly reference in the title)

Here's another go at the coated skinnies. Actually, now that I think about it, this is almost an exact repeat of an outfit from a month or two ago. I think just the skinnies and the jacket are different. This has my Firefly vibe, I love the soft colours with the saturated burgundy. The boots look more space-age and add that FF element into things.

I was going to wear my brown boots, but these ones felt comfier this morning so I went with it. In person, the boots and jeans match much more closely.

This blouse I am always on the fence about. It is silky, I love the collar and RATE pleating detail, but the colour is close to SSB. I wish it was another colour, but I think with a scarf it does ok. I also tried this buttoned up, it looks like the jacket is pulling but it isn't, I think it just doesn't work with the scarf underneath. So unbuttoned wins the day today.

Blouse: Gap
Scarf: Old Navy
Wool Western style Jacket: Rickis
Coated Skinnies: Suzy Shier
Boots: Camper

I am chained to my desk marking essays all day (and likely all week)...meh. At least my happiness level in clothing is 100% today.

I really like this a lot, especially with the jacket open. I'm taking notes for the coated skinnies!

I think the blouse looks good with the scarf. I like the jacket unbuttoned and the whole thing looks great.

Do I not know what Firefly is because I'm a geezer?

Like Janet I like it with the jacket open, but the interesting peplum detail of the jacket shows up better in the photos with the jacket closed. And those boots look so comfy!

BTW, I somehow never watched Firefly until after it ended (even though I was a big Buffy fan). I saw Serenity in the theater and *then* proceeded to go on a viewing spree of all the FF episodes. So sad it didn't last longer!

The colours are wonderful and they are very flattering on you! I don't know Firefly, but for me, this outfit has a slight uniform-like vibe (jacket+boots), which I really like!

Cute outfit, with a uniform vibe! It's a win if puts you in a good mood, so there's a hope for your students you'll mark those essays, generously:-))

I like it better with the open jacket as well. Good luck with your grading!

    Great outfit!

Shiny! I feel the Firefly vibe, and I like it with the jacket open.

  • Preppy Pear replied 11 years ago

Great outfit! I really like the rounded hem of the top with the sharper angles of the jacket! And I'm really digging your bangs!

I like the way you've worn your scarf! Also prefer the look with the jacket open, but I was thinking, if you had a skirt on instead and your blouse tucked in, then this exact jacket might look very nice buttoned up with the scarf inside!

I love it! And I like the extra colour the scarf is adding to brighten up a November day. The colours go well with you.

  • rae replied 11 years ago

You know I love it! I also like it best with the jacket open, and I think the scarf is the perfect way to keep the SSB away from your face. :D

  • N-Marie replied 11 years ago

I like the combo of the similar colored boot + coated skinnies- it gives you a very long leg line.

I'm too new to know what SSB means, but I was a big firefly fan and so sad when they canceled that show!

  • JR replied 11 years ago

    SSB = soul-sucking beige

  • Mona replied 11 years ago

Ciet, these skinnies are becoming wardrobe workhorse for you, aren't they? I love this outfit. The colours complement one another so well and the jacket gives it a little bit uniform vibe. It definitely looks better unbuttoned. You are on the fence about this blouse but I think it is good for layering under jackets and blazers and as long as SSB is not around your face, it is okay.

Totally Firefly! I'm not sure of the pink and grey in the scarf with this - maybe too pastel for my eye? But I love the jacket and boots look - you are ready to take on the universe, or at least grading.

The outfit is just fab, especially with scarf & unbuttoned jacket. You chose well today:) I love the blending of jeans and boots.

Take care during marking - remember to stretch out your neck regularly (look who's talking).

Thanks so much for commenting, everyone. I am about half-way through my quota for today, so the end is in sight!

PreppyPear - Thanks! I just cut them again yesterday, they were getting really long.

JuneBud -- I will try it with a skirt, thanks for the suggestion.

Una - it doesn't show well in photos but the scarf is actually black, chocolate brown, and fuschia woven with a cream beige colour. In person it looks more intense because you see the individual colours.

Thanks Ingunn -- don't worry, I learned my lesson a couple weeks ago with a week-long neck spasm and migraine/tension headaches. I just have to survive until the end of term, when my load drops from 100 students to a max of 20. Next term is going to feel like a vacation by comparison!

I haven't watched a single episode of Firefly so I have the feeling I am missing something here , but...

I love those skinnies on you, I am sure IRL the fact that they are coated must make this outfit extrafab. Pairing them with those boots was genius.
Also the scarf takes away all the soulsuckiness that the shirt might have.

And, of course, being the jacket-a-holic that I am I love the jacket :)

Be careful with your back and neck and don't despair with the content of the essays ;)

I TOTALLY love this especially with jacket unbuttoned and scarf. This is gorgeous on you. I love the combo of soft with sharp, texture with smooth. You look wonderful in those skinnies. One of my faves on you ever!!
